Revenge (TV Series 2011)
Emily Thorne rents a house in the Hamptons for the summer, seemingly intent on nothing more than enjoying a break in the popular resort. But it soon becomes clear that there’s more to her visit. Her real name is Amanda Clarke and her father was framed for a crime he didn’t commit and sent to prison for life and she has come to the Hamptons to seek revenge against the people who betrayed him and saw him sent to jail. (IMDb)
Season 1 was by far controversial, thrilling, very surprising and entertaining. I mean, that’s what media is supposed to be right? It was a slap of satisfaction and reality and I’ve always loved witnessing conspiracies behind my monitor or the TV screen, because I have never experienced conspiracy in real life, though I know I might not enjoy it if it really does happen, I think it’s the spontaneous part of it that makes it enjoyable to watch.
My favorite character in the series is Nolan Ross, played by Gabriel Mann (I researched about him and his IMDb record says he’s been in lots of movies, most of which I’ve already watched but this series just got me hooked into seeing his character throughout the series until the end) who acts like the sidekick, if there is no other name for it, of Emily Thorne. A bachelor billionaire, which I think is bi- but let’s hope not as the series continues, and a very smart guy known for his annoying attitude and let’s say.. ”ways”.
But I am not going to say any further about him.
I really love the series though I’ve only watched the first season and I know you would too. I know a good series when I see one. haha kidding. Okay, thanks.

The Grey (2011)
This whole movie review thing has been in hiatus for awhile now but because I feel like writing my opinion about this really nice movie, I think I’m back on reviewing every movie after I see it. Anyway,
After their plane crashes in Alaska, seven oil workers are led by a skilled huntsman to survival, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step. (IMDb)That was a brief summary of what you shall witness in the movie, though most parts were partly covered in ice, the thrill of the whole scene is clearly seen and the notions of action is emphasized. I don’t know if it’s just me or maybe some of you who may have seen this movie too, have felt what it’s like to be one of the people in this movie, fighting for survival. I felt it and because it’s part inspiring slash touching, I shed some tears too.
I don’t know why I kept thinking about Twilight every time the word “alpha” and “omega” is mentioned though we all know that it’s because the Twilight Saga has been all about vampires and werewolves, crash out the obvious love part please.
The story is a typical survival/action/thrilling film seeing from all the 7 main characters all dying one by one in tragic accidents or whatsoever only!.. wolves are the enemies here people. It’s man versus the real beasts, not aliens nor monsters nor fictional antagonists like vampires and ghosts. It’s realistic so it’s a plus to the thrilling rate.
My friend suggested me to watch this yeah, and it kind of got the feel of Frozen only there were three of them, stuck in a skii chairlift either finding a way out than freezing to death.. and there were hyenas too.
Give the movie a try.

Hello Ghost (2010)
The story follows a young man, Sang Man, an orphan that decided to end his life in so many ways but would still stay alive after every attempt. After one attempt that nearly led him to death in fact, giving his heart the chance to stop beating, he woke up seeing ghosts. He sees these four ghosts, annoying him to grant their wishes. A smoker, a pervert, a spoiled child, and a crybaby lady. In the process of granting their wishes, he meets this young woman that suddenly gave him the reason to live.
Just right now that I am typing this, I still couldn’t stop crying. The movie is funny and really, really touching. Even when you think the story is ending, that’s when the climax starts to roll in. I didn’t see that coming. I’ve watched 49 days that follows a woman this time, who grew up as an orphan and had no one to turn to. She also had the suicidal attitude just like Sang Man had so the story was quite the same. The only difference was that, 49 days is a Korean drama series, and this one’s a movie so it’s short and it’s like a time bomb.. just ticking and waiting for your tears to explode. If you’ve watched 49 days, just be mindful that this movie has a touch of the series but if you want to cry real hard just like I did, forget 49 days ever existed.

A Serious Man (2009)
Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg) is a high school professor that excels in a very complicated field that later on, excelled his life into a very complicated state. Starting from the confession of his wife Judith Gopnik (Sari Lennick) that wanted to have a gett—a Jewish ritual divorce, in able to marry a widowed husband, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed) that turned Larry’s life into misery with his Rabbi-ish words and therapies.
Larry went on with his life seeking advices from different Rabbis and aside from all the problems he was facing, like his son being addicted to weed, his asian student’s grade issues that later on turned as a threat to his part because the student wanted good grades, her daughter’s bad hair partying days because of Larry’s brother, Arthur Gopnik’s (Richard Kind) cyst issues and his wide gambling intelligence, he remained the stalled man he was.
This comedy-drama will amaze you instantly and will leave you with a puzzled situation at the later part. This movie is not that inspiring but is as great as the storyline manages to portray the reality of being a man.. with serious problems.

Buried (2010)
Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) is a U.S. truck driver who is working in Iraq. After an unfortunate event where he was attacked by a group of Iraqis, he woke up buried alive inside a coffin made of wood with only a lighter, a cellphone and later on he found out about the bag of glow-in-the-dark lights, for his survival. While he was fighting for his life, a man would call him every now and then, asking Paul to bring him money or else his family would die. A threat and he was the hostage.
The setting was just inside the box and the only seen cast is Ryan Reynolds and all the other casts were just voices of people he was calling on the phone, and the terrorist who buried him plus the FBI. It was a good movie with a bit of just a bit of a twist — it’s claustrophobic. I know it is because somehow, my nerves would react every time he changes his position and it seems hard for him to get himself out which would seem pretty ruthless if I was the one trapped inside a coffin, buried alive in the deepest desert of Iraq. The only bad thing about this, and the most obvious, is the boredom that will apply later on with the movie as because the movie would definitely make you expect for another scenery to see. And the after effect of the ending would trigger you to hate the movie for life.
But I guess that’s the whole point of the movie.

Catfish (2010)
Three guys from New York named Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost and Nev Schulman decided to document the ongoing life of Ariel’s brother, Nev as he develops a relationship of a Facebook friend, Abby, an 8 year old painter from rural Michigan who commissioned her paintings to Nev because her paintings were mostly Nev’s photographs. Abby would connect to him every now and then, progressing to making Abby’s family call Nev over the phone and finally, Abby’s “sexy” half sister, Megan walked through Nev’s life and made him feel the butterflies flying in his stomach.
As they progress towards being personally real, a shocking truth about the Facebook family that Nev met online, when he found out about Megan’s awesome talent as a musician was a big conspiracy, made his team want to investigate some more, leading them to travel and find out about the true identity of the people they’ve come to love via Facebook.
They landed on Michigan only to find out that all of the people responsible for the creation of bond on Facebook were all created by the imagination of a home-bound woman who has given up her career and ambition to mother her two retarded sons.
This documentary film of real life thriller and the shocking truth about our generation as manipulated by the power of technology, comes off with the most epic lesson of not trusting people you haven’t seen. Conspiracy is everywhere and it’s brainwashing sometimes.

The Order (2003)
I am just going to copy paste a short review from Wikipedia on this post because I can’t explain the movie really well, though I understand it. And Star Movies quoted The Sin Eater as its title but then I found out later on, the movie is called The Order. yeah.
The film’s premise is that there is another way to heaven than adherence to the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. A secular Sin Eater can remove all taint of sin, no matter how foul, from the soul just before death. The purified soul can then ascend into heaven. The Roman Catholic Church, according to the film, considers this heresy.
Heath Ledger plays an unhappy and disillusioned priest, Alex Bernier, a member of a fictitious religious order The Carolingians which specializes in fighting demons and other hell spawn. Father Dominic, the head of the Carolingians, has died in Rome under suspicious circumstances and Alex leaves the USA to investigate.

Flatliners (1990)
A group of medical students conducted an experiment about death. The experiment aims to make the subject die or pass to a flatline and wait for, at first, a minute and thirty seconds when they tried it with Nelson (Kiefer Sutherland), the mastermind of the experiment. On those minutes that they lied brain dead, their thoughts travel to a world that was beyond reality and fantasy at the same time. After reviving Nelson and after he convinced his classmates that it was way beyond the ordinary and was absolutely life-changing, they started betting for time laps reaching to 4 minutes of brain death just to experience what Nelson had felt, which they didn’t also know, became dangerous and dark after he woke up from his death.
The movie is all-star casted which adds up to my interest level and the story was fresh, unique and thrilling too. Two thumbs up.

Reign of Fire (2002)
This film is about the day the dragons came to life again in the new millennium that sent out hundreds of fire that destroyed everything on Earth. The scenes take place in London where the first dragon was discovered by underground workers inside a cave that they dug up during the construction. A boy named Quinn was the only survivor after the dragon came up all the way from the ground and left London into pieces. Quinn grew up and formed a kingdom of survivors through the years, forever hiding and fighting for survival against the fire-breathing dragons that began to brood over the whole nation. One day, a sudden acquaintance was made due to their shared vengeance with the dragons. Dragon slayers met Quinn and asked for volunteers that will help erase the dragons from the face of the Earth.
I think I talked enough sense there..

The story follows four former prostitutes on the run following a justifiable homicide and a prison escape, who later encounter difficulties involving bank robbery and Pinkerton detectives.
I appreciated it because I can see Drew on her youthful days in this.

The Crazies (2010)
The film takes place in the fictional town of Ogden Marsh, Pierce County, Iowa, “friendliest place on Earth,” whose town water supply is accidentally infected with the “Trixie” virus. After an incubation period of 48 hours, this virus gradually transforms the mental state of the infected into that of cold, calculating, depraved, bloodthirsty killers, who then prey on family and neighbors alike.
I am quite disappointed with the movie in regards to what the trailer suggests. The trailer was really convincing but the movie was just ordinary and typical. I wasn’t really happy that I was eagerly waiting for it to air on StarMovies and went right straight home to watch out for it. But anyway, I’ve seen what I have seen. Hills Have Eyes is way better because I can somehow compare the cinematography of the two movies.
